May I write something different than your suggested comments?

No. Please select one of the pre-approved sample messages. As a 501(c)(3) My Faith Votes must ensure our messages meet specific standards. Never write a political party or a candidate’s name.

Do I have to print out the letters and provide the envelopes?

Yes. If you sign up to write letters, you assume all the expenses associated with the project including printing, envelopes, and postage. It is all tax deductible. We encourage you to save your receipts if you wish to claim your expenses with the IRS. If your expenses do not exceed $250, all you need is your receipts. If your documented expenses exceed $250, we are happy to provide a written record of your documented donation upon request. Please note, postage is set to increase on July 10, 2022 – so buy your stamps early to save on postage costs!

May I add my contact information to the letter/postcard if I would like?

No. Please do not write any of your own personal contact information or means of tracking who you are on the postcards or letters. This is for security purposes- yours and ours.

When do I mail the letters/postcards?

Mail postcards between October 3-7. Mail letters between October 10-14. If you complete all your postcards and/or letters prior to this time, please hold onto them until the appropriate time in October. Mailing the letters closer to the midterms ensures we deliver the message at the best time to get Christians to the polls to cast biblically informed votes. We will send you a reminder when that time comes.

How many letters/postcards can I send?

When you begin placing your order you will see a drop-down menu of order sizes. Letters start at a minimum of 20 and postcards start at a minimum of 250. If you’re working with your church or a group and want to send more than the maximum number you see, please place an initial order and then let your Data Coordinator know you might be interested in writing more.

What do I have to pay for?

If you sign up to write letters, you assume all the expenses associated with the project including printing, envelopes, and postage. We encourage you to save your receipts if you wish to claim your expenses with the IRS. If your documented expenses exceed $250, we are happy to provide a written record of your documented in-kind donation upon request. Please note, postage is set to increase on July 10, 2022 – so buy your stamps early to save on postage costs!

The cost of the postcards and postcard postage is covered by our generous donors, so there is no financial commitment required from you, our volunteer Action Partners who are writing postcards. Learn more about volunteer tax deductions here: https://www.hrblock.com/tax-center/filing/adjustments-and-deductions/volunteer-tax-deductions/.

Is it OK if I run the postcards/letters through my printer to print the addresses on them?

Please handwrite names and addresses on your postcards or envelopes. People are much more likely to pay attention to your message when they see their information handwritten on their mail.

May I have others assist me in the project?

Yes! Many of our Action Partners host ‘letter writing parties’ in their homes so they can complete the project alongside friends and family. We simply ask that you oversee the project and provide detailed instructions to each person partnering with you to complete the letters or postcards. We suggest that you ask your church to host a writing party as well.

Please request that everyone who works with you on this project sign up at www.actionpartners.org. We strongly encourage this so that we might thank them and so that we know exactly how many have participated in these projects.

How do I cover the cost of stamps?

Some Action Partners reach out to friends and family to help cover the cost of stamps. In the packet you receive from your Data Coordinator, there will be a sample email to send to your church, friends, and family to ask for support. If you would like to write more letters than you can pay for, please contact your volunteer Data Coordinator. There may be scholarship funds available to help you cover the cost of postage.

May I participate in this campaign financially?

Yes. To make a real impact on the midterm elections, these efforts require both a significant amount of time and funding. Please donate here.

May I write to people in my state instead?

While there are meaningful elections in every state, My Faith Votes concentrates this campaign on a group of critical states to maximize the Christian influence on outcomes in the U.S. Senate and House.

May I mail the postcards / letters as soon as I complete them?

If you complete all your postcards and/or letters prior to this time, please hold onto postcards until the week of October 3-7 and letters until the week of October 10-14. Mailing the letters closer to the midterms ensures we deliver the message at the best time to get Christians to the polls to cast biblically informed votes. We will send you a reminder when that time comes.

How do I know this will make a difference?

We keep close track of the impact of our efforts and measure the results against control groups. In the election campaign of 2021, we had tremendous success - as high as a 57% increase in Christian voter turnout. We can only anticipate that God will bless the work of our hands this time as well.

Why are we not doing anything in my state?

At My Faith Votes, we are committed to maximizing every donor dollar we receive. The best use of our donors’ investment is to target those states where our efforts will have the greatest impact. We use the best data available and a lot of prayer to determine where God is leading us.

What do I do if I cannot write and do not have funds to assist?

We can all do something and that means you, too. If you are unable to participate in the writing campaigns and you do not have the financial resources to support it, you can always invest your time in prayer. And prayer is the most essential element needed in every one of these efforts. We are so grateful to each person who chooses to invest in this way.

If I have questions that are unanswered here and cannot reach my Data Coordinator, whom should I contact?

If you still need assistance, please email actionpartners@myfaithvotes.org and we will be in touch.
