Today is the Day

This week's focus: Urgency

I recently had the opportunity to go skiing. Since it was April, I wondered if the snow coverage would be sufficient. When I arrived, I found out it was the snowiest season to date in the Lake Tahoe area. The resort I was at had an incredible 769 inches of snow! My use of the word sufficient was an understatement.

Since the definition of sufficient is adequate, 2 Corinthians 12:9 is the epitome of an understatement when God says, “My grace is sufficient for you.”

A quote by Alan Redpath explains it this way, “Do you see the humor of the situation? God’s grace: me. His grace sufficient for little me! How absurd to think that it could ever be any different! As if a little fish could swim in the ocean and fear lest it might drink it dry! The grace of our crucified, risen, exalted, triumphant Savior, the Lord of all glory, is surely sufficient for me! Do you not think it is rather modest of the Lord to say sufficient?”

The Bible tells us that Jesus is full of grace and truth. His abundant love showers us with grace upon grace—He is more than sufficient and more than enough for us in every way. It’s God’s grace that made a way for us to be eternally secure the moment we put our faith in Jesus. What a gift! If you haven’t received it, don’t wait another moment. 2 Corinthians 6:2 confirms a sense of urgency when God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.”

Yes, the snow in Tahoe was more than sufficient in April, but it wouldn’t have been if I had delayed and tried to arrive later in the season. What if I booked my flight for August? More than likely, the snow would have melted, and I would have missed my opportunity.

May this not be the case with our eternal destinations. Jesus can return at any moment; when He does, it will be suddenly and quickly. Grasp hold of His abundant grace today and don’t miss the opportunity to receive the greatest gift ever.

2 Corinthians 6:2

For He says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

Prayer Points:

Pray: Dear Lord, we praise You for Your abundant grace—You are more than sufficient for our every need. May the eyes of those who don’t know You open today and, in repentance, turn to You. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Think: “And now let me address all of you, high and low, rich and poor, one with another, to accept of mercy and grace while it is offered to you; Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation; and will you not accept it, now it is offered unto you?” – George Whitefield

Act: Have you asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior? Pray now.

We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
