Speak Truth

This week's focus: Courage

“The first to plead his case seems right, Until another comes and examines him.” Proverbs 18:17

If you’ve ever watched an episode of Dateline, you understand how true this Proverb is! The news media and social media daily present us with false narratives, new definitions, and personal opinions that masquerade as facts. This is dangerous because human nature is prone to believe what we repeatedly see and hear. It’s even more dangerous when we are only exposed to only one side of a story. So how do we respond?

In the Bible, we are shown how Jesus handled deception and lies when He was being tempted by Satan in the desert. Every time the enemy twisted the facts, Jesus immediately countered with truth. When God’s Word was being corrupted, Jesus quickly corrected.

Christians, we must be as prepared, passionate, and persistent with spreading truth as the enemy is in spreading lies. May we have the boldness to stand strong for truth and righteousness in a culture that is becoming increasingly more hostile to God’s word.

When we arm ourselves with knowledge and are filled with compassion, we won’t be satisfied with inaction but will want to speak the truth in love. Let’s not be like the man who was asked, “Do you suffer from ignorance or apathy?” to which he responded, “I don’t know and I don’t care.”

As Christ-followers, let’s stand up, show up, and speak up because we do know and we do care.

Ephesians 5:11

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Prayer Points:

Pray: Heavenly Father, help us to have the courage to speak the truth and stand for what is right. May we shine Your light on the darkness and expose anything that is not of You. Our desire is to lead people to the Truth because the Truth will set them free.

Think: "I still believe that standing up for the truth of God is the greatest thing in the world. This is the end (purpose) of life. The end of life is not to be happy. The end of life is not to achieve pleasure and avoid pain. The end of life is to do the will of God, come what may." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Act: “WRITE NOW” Campaign is starting soon!- Our 2022 letter-writing and postcard campaign to encourage Christians who have a track record of inconsistently voting is about to begin. Building on the overwhelming success in the Virginia elections last fall, our community of Action Partners will be hand-writing over 1 million letters and postcards for the upcoming midterms. Watch for more details next week so you can join us too.

We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
This devotion was produced in partnership with Every Home for Christ.
This ministry is made possible by the generous support of friends like you.
