Seek - Weekly Devotional
This week's focus: Seek
Seek is defined as:
- to go in search of
- to try to acquire or gain
- Seeking the Lord means seeking his presence. “Presence” is a common translation of the Hebrew word “face.” Literally, we are to seek his “face.” To be before His face is to be in His presence.
Lord, there are so many times we have burdens almost too heavy to bear. Our nation faces hardships and pain; we need Your wisdom and help in all areas. Strengthen us as a people and lead us in a way that will bring honor and glory to You. Lord, You have promised that if we humble ourselves and seek Your face and pray, you will heal our land. May we forever be humble in Your sight, and may we experience Your blessings in the midst of our great need.
Psalm 55:1-3; Psalm 105:4 (NIV)
-Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught because of what my enemy is saying, because of the threats of the wicked; for they bring down suffering on me and assail me in their anger.
-Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
- As we approach the elections, parents and grandparents have an excellent opportunity to teach their children about why we vote. We are offering you a phenomenal free fourteen-day family devotional resource to help guide this important conversation. If you don’t have young children or grandchildren, share this with someone who does. The future of our country depends on the next generation of faith voters and leaders. - Many are facing devastation and loss from natural disasters happening across the nation. Pray for Californians affected by the fires, pray for Iowans who experienced a massive derecho that swept across Iowa and caused massive home and crop damage, and pray for those in the path of two potential hurricanes brewing in the Gulf.
We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
