Weekly Devotional

Our Faith and Belief Systems

This week's focus: The Church

Many Americans embrace belief systems and ideologies that claim to point the way to salvation through some system of self- sacrifice and good works yet miss the transforming power of the cross and resurrection. The apostle Paul taught, “if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV). Pray that believers across America will have opportunities to share the reality of knowing Christ with those who have never experienced His “amazing grace.” Especially pray for the various faiths that exist in America, as well as the many organizations and individuals focused on demonstrating the compassion of Christ among people of these groups. Pray that the growing “prayer, care, share” strategy of truly praying for and loving those of other faiths through caring for and helping meet their felt needs will become a national strategy of the Body of Christ. Pray by name for neighbors and friends you know who embrace different belief systems, asking God to enable you to share the Good News of your own testimony with them in love and humility.

Acts 26:16-18

“Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”

In Your Prayers, Remember:

  • For the victims, families and community of Sutherland Springs, TX, where dozens were killed and others wounded in a horrific incident on Sunday.
  • The people of NYC and particularly, the families of those killed in the worst terrorist attack in NYC since 9/11.
  • With over 40% of the U.S. population having an election in their area on Tuesday, November 7th, pray that all Christians will act their faith and vote their values in these critical elections for local school boards, city councils, judges, state legislature, and U.S. Senate and House. Sadly, 80% of Christians don’t vote in local elections.

We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
