Goodness - Weekly Devotional

This week's focus: Goodness

Goodness is defined as:

  • excellence of quality
  • the best part of anything; essence; strength.
  • the state or quality of being good

Lord, we are so blessed that each day You come to us with the gift of Your Spirit to help us and strengthen our purpose for Your glory. Continue to work in us, O Lord, and help us grow to be the people you created us to be. Thank you for Your continued goodness even when we stumble; thank you that You are ever-present to hold our hands and lift us up. Thank you for Your gracious mercy to us each day.

1 Chronicles 17: 25-27 (NKJV)

"For You, O my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build him a house. Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray before You. And now, Lord, You are God, and have promised this goodness to Your servant. Now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You have blessed it, O Lord, and it shall be blessed forever.”

Prayer Points:

  • The Supreme Court recently ruled 5-4 to strike down a ban on taxpayer funding for religious schools, in a narrow but significant win for the school choice movement. Pray for policymakers in other states across the country to begin introducing and passing policies that protect religious liberty and private schools, and expand choice and opportunity for every student in America.
  • President Trump signed an executive order seeking to strengthen the nation’s foster care system which calls on states and cities to work with faith-based charities. Pray that this executive order will encourage many state agencies to partner with Christian organizations, resulting in good homes for many more vulnerable children. Pray that faith-based organizations will not have to choose between following their beliefs and closing their doors.

We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
This devotion was produced in partnership with Every Home for Christ.
This ministry is made possible by the generous support of friends like you.
