Crime and Violence

This week's focus: Government

Escalating crime and violence are symptoms of a society that has drifted away from God or outright rejected Him. Commenting on the end-times, Christ said: “Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 24:11-13, NKJV). Pray against all those who would seek to tarnish our culture through criminal activity and all manner of corruption. Pray that God will show the younger generation that involvement with any kind of “recreational” drug use not only destroys their health, but fuels crime in our nation. Pray also that those in law enforcement specifically focused on this problem will find more and better ways to combat this plague through modern technology and other means.

Psalm 11:1-7

“In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain. For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them. The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion. On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot. For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.”

Prayer Points:

  • This Thursday is the annual National Day of Prayer. Pray that we as individuals, churches, and spiritual leaders in America, will humble ourselves and unify in prevailing prayer for the next great move of God in America. Pray for unity as we stand together in prayer. Pray and practice extraordinary prayer for the next great move of God in America that will catapult the message of the gospel nationally and internationally. Pray that we would daily live out this year’s theme that comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.”
  • As we take time to pray for our nation, pray for our federal officials, by name, with our prayer guide.

We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
