Calm - Weekly Devotional

This week's focus: Calm

Calm is defined as:

  • a quiet and peaceful state or condition
  • a peaceful mental or emotional state

In the midst of this tumultuous political season, oh God, I pray that you would bring your calm to America. I cry out to you, that you would hush the storm and bring us out of our distresses. Mold us in your heart of gentle calm and make us a safe haven. I pray especially that your people in this nation would model your calm spirit as we engage with the world, especially as we approach all the elections taking place in 2020.

Psalm 107:28-30 (AMP)

“Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He hushes the storm to a calm and to a gentle whisper so that the waves of the sea are still. Then the men are glad because of the calm, and He brings them to their desired haven.”

Prayer Points:

  • We’re reading a chapter from the book of Luke every night from December 1 through Christmas Eve as a countdown to celebrating the birth of Christ. You can follow along with us here.
  • Throughout this month, pray for our brothers and sisters around the world. December brings increased persecution and requires greater caution for many Christians. In parts of the world, simple Christmas decorations are either illegal or dangerous to display, provoking attacks. Christmas is both a reminder of pain, but also a celebration of hope. Pray that the light of Jesus would shine in the darkness and that God would protect his people this Christmas.

We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
This devotion was produced in partnership with Every Home for Christ.
This ministry is made possible by the generous support of friends like you.
