Money - Weekly Devotional
This week's focus: Money
The ups and downs of the economy affect all of us in different ways, including those ministries that seek to spread the Gospel globally. Pray that God will get the attention of Christians to depend on Him, to reject the ways of the world and that a true revival will result.
The great spiritual awakening of the 1850s, in which hundreds of thousands came to Christ, began as a result of a nationwide failure of America’s banking system. In particular, as you serve the Lord today, ask God to allow Hebrews 13:5 (paraphrased) to come alive in the hearts of His children: “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.’”
Intercede for individuals you know of who might be struggling financially. Additionally, pray that Christians will continue to tithe faithfully to their local church and give to other worthy ministries.
1 Timothy 6:6-10 (ESV)
"But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs."
- The U.S. Supreme Court announced that it will hear oral arguments in a Mississippi challenge to Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark ruling that effectively legalized abortion in America, on Dec. 1. Pray that the Supreme Court justices will be strengthened with courage against threats and intimidation attempts. In the time leading up to the oral arguments, pray that the justices will seek God’s wisdom, and take the words of Proverbs 31:8 seriously.
- You can impact the upcoming elections in Virginia no matter which state you live in. Send a postcard (we provide) or letter (you print) to Christians in VA who are less likely to vote. It’s an opportunity to equip, motivate, and pray for Christians to vote. Learn more and join us here.
We want to see God honored in America, and we pray for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
