HOW TO RESPOND TO MEDIA BIAS

The massive political divide we are experiencing in our country today is more than just about which side has the majority. Previously, politics didn’t isolate neighbors, drive wedges between friends, fuel bitterness between family members, and ignite hate and anger in otherwise peaceful people. Perhaps more than any other contributing factor, extreme media bias is darkening this chapter in America’s history by shaping and twisting narratives into conformity with secular worldviews.

Media elites and Hollywood celebrities—who mostly stand united against our values of life, traditional marriage and religious freedom – are fighting for control of our nation. Fixated on their political agendas, these influencers are blind to the good that has taken place in our country:

• America’s GDP growth has risen to over 4%.
• Manufacturing jobs are coming back to America.
• Unemployment is at or near record lows in virtually every demographic.
• ISIS lost 98% of its territory in the first four months of President Trump’s term.
• And in 2017, deaths by acts of terror worldwide plunged by 27%.

Who can argue with positive economic growth and strong national security impacting all Americans?

WE ARE, BY ALMOST EVERY MEASURE, LIVING IN THE SAFEST, HEALTHIEST, MOST PROSPEROUS TIME IN OUR NATION’S HISTORY. YET THE LEFT HAS MILLIONS OF PEOPLE CONVINCED THAT THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US BECAUSE THE 2016 ELECTION DIDN’T TURN OUT AS THEY HOPED.

But there is something bigger at play here. As the mainstream media gets louder and angrier – their hatred more intense, fake news more blatantly evident, and the divide in our nation dangerously irreparable – faith voters absolutely can change the course of history:

1. Stand boldly and unashamed on the word of God and His principles in the public square. People of faith may not want to “get political,” but if they are silent, then they do so at the expense of not being biblical (Deuteronomy 1:13).
2. Treat everyone with the love of Christ and strive to be at peace with our fellow Americans (Romans 12:1).
3. Vote.

As God-fearing citizens entrusted with the blessing of freedom and the duty to choose our lawmakers and leaders, we have the responsibility to participate in governmental systems.

I understand it can be tempting to let the fear-mongering tactics of a secular culture intimidate us into silence and to stand outside of the political process. But as Christians, politics is not something to be afraid of (2 Timothy 1:17). Instead, it’s one of the best and most outward ways we can let our lights shine in a dark time (John 1:5).

Our votes and influence are needed now more than ever before.

Think about the recent confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. This was indeed a good thing for socially conservative values. The battle to get here, though, has revealed and magnified the political divide to a level that seems impossible to bridge. And now, the Left are drawing up arms for November and plotting impeachment for both our newest Justice and our President.

We’ve reached a tipping point in America’s history. Will we emerge stronger and better than ever before or will we slide into an irreversible decline?

I want to see every single Christian in America show up during every single election—in spite of media narratives, true to the biblical narrative. Let’s make our voices heard.

It’s up to you. Will you submit to intimidation and be sidelined by the media as irrelevant? Or will you step up in faith and lead our nation?

The elitist media’s biggest fear is to be challenged by everyday people. As long as they hold the microphone, they control the narrative. But together, we hold the megaphone—when we vote.
