In this week's Intersect, read about:

Houston’s Largest Planned Parenthood Facility to Close Amid Federal Funding Cuts

In what many see as a major victory for the pro-life movement, the largest Planned Parenthood in the nation is shutting its doors, and in Houston, of all places. According to Christianity Today, this facility “gained widespread attention in 2015, when the Center for Medical Progress published clandestine video from the clinic.” Those videos exposed Planned Parenthood for “the harvesting and sale of aborted fetal body parts at major abortion clinics across the country.” Read more at Million Voices…

    THINK.

    • The funding that the Trump administration has removed is public funding. Very little private funding goes to the organization compared to the public dollars. The church should be grateful that we have a president who cared enough to remove the funding, and as a result, cripple the largest Planned Parenthood facility in the country.
    • It is unconstitutional what has been allowed. No where in the U.S. Constitution is any funding of that nature permitted, certainly not the slaughter of millions of humans.
    • While federal funding is ceasing, it can change with the next administration. It is important for the church to remain vigilant and address this with their senator and congressional representation.

    PRAY.

God, I pray that every Planned Parenthood facility is shut down in Jesus’ name. Lord may these buildings be turned into places of worship and centers for pregnancy, where they truly do plan for parenthood.

    ACT.

Pay attention to your federal representation and make sure they support every effort from President Trump to continue pulling funding from institutions that do not hold biblical values. Also, petition your state legislator to pass bills that protect the unborn, like banning the abortion pill.

Student’s Stand Protects Religious Liberty in New York High School

A senior student at a high school in New York has prevailed in a legal fight over her right to display Bible verses in a school-sanctioned activity. The case arose after Sabrina Steffans, a senior at Grand Island High School, submitted designs for her parking space artwork, part of a long-standing tradition where students pay $50 to decorate their spaces in ways meant to “promote school spirit,” according to Fox News. Read more at Million Voices…

    THINK.

    • Students have the right to freedom of religious worship, and this student proved that it is still recognized. This will also force the school to revisit their rules, ensuring that this is not done again to another student.
    • Other schools may now think twice about shutting down the right of a student to express their praise to the Lord.
    • Steffans example serves as one that we can all take encouragement from, that boldness produces fruit. If you take a stand, things can and will change!

    PRAY.

God, we thank you for courageous young men and women in the schools. We ask You to instill a spirit of boldness in other students around the nation to rise to the occasion and stand strong for Your word, so that the schools will take notice and change their policies, stirring other young people to be vocal about You, Jesus.

    ACT.

Review your school’s rules and their codes. Make sure they do not have any concerning language that might prevent a person of faith from exercising their constitutional right to speak freely and worship freely, as the Constitution guarantees.

Minneapolis School Shooting Sparks Debate Over Transgender Ideology, Mental Health, and Spiritual Warfare

Tragedy struck the city of Minneapolis on Wednesday when a 23-year-old man, who identified as a woman, entered a Catholic school and opened fire. According to Fox News, two children were killed, and 17 others were injured. The attack has ignited intense debate over mental illness, particularly transgender dysphoria, and its cultural implications. Read more at Million Voices…

    THINK.

    • This battle is more than an issue that can be addressed with laws. We are in a spiritual battle that demands prayer and the word of God. Addressing it only with mental health initiatives will miss the root of the problem.
    • Guns are targeted again, but they are not the issue. Millions of Americans own guns, yet nearly all of them are law abiding gun owners who wish to protect their communities, not hurt them.
    • When we call transgenderism a spiritual battle, some assume that means it only needs a spiritual solution. But that’s not the case. It must be rightly identified as a mental disorder, while also recognizing that true healing and identity can only be found through encountering Jesus.

    PRAY.

Jesus, love on those who were affected by this most recent awful attack on children. May your peace rest on those families and comfort them. Father God, help us to institute good policies and laws that help our communities and stir American culture to resist this disease of gender dysphoria which is entirely in opposition to Your word, in Jesus’ name.

    ACT.

Email and call your city council and mayor. Ask them to pass municipal protections for schools and places where children frequently go. Call your state and federal representatives and demand they pass a federal law that declares gender dysphoria a mental disorder. Encourage them to pray for the nation.

Texas Passes Landmark Health Laws with Trump and Kennedy Leading the Charge

The Texas House of Representatives has passed the Make Texas Healthy Again bill, targeting sugars and additives in food as part of the Trump administration’s broader push to Make America Healthy Again. The goal is to make nutrition clearer for families and encourage healthier lifestyles statewide. Read more at Million Voices…

    THINK.

    • Health is a necessity for long life. It is a value of heaven, and our laws must reflect that. Texas has now passed these laws which encourage healthier lifestyles of eating and nutrition, including allowing prescriptions like ivermectin to be given over the counter to those who wish to take it.
    • The state has its place in making sure that harmful products are not being sold to people, by requiring warning labels to be placed on the products. Secretary Kennedy has led the charge on this front, and we honor him for this victory.
    • For decades Americans have been poisoned by harmful additives in food products, and now the tide is turning toward a healthier nation; a nation that will consume better products for ourselves and our posterity. We must continue this effort in other states, not just Texas.

    PRAY.

Lord, we thank you for good stewardship of health. Give us wisdom regarding what products we should consume, and whatever we have already consumed that is not healthy for us, please forgive us and restore our bodies. Holy Spirit, give us health strategies to be better stewards of our bodies.

    ACT.

The federal government is doing its part, so far. It’s now on the church to petition your state governments to pass laws like Texas, ensuring that laws encouraging healthy eating and nutrition are passed, while also allowing treatments like ivermectin to be sold over the counter. We want a healthy nation and healthy states.
