WEEKLY NEWS SUMMARY - OCTOBER 8, 2025
In this week's Intersect, read about:
FDA’s Abortion Pill Approval Puts Women at Risk
“The Food and Drug Administration’s recent decision to approve another generic version of mifepristone has reignited the debate over chemical abortion. The announcement was quickly met with criticism from lawmakers, pro-life advocates, and medical professionals who argue that the FDA’s actions reflect confusion inside the agency and disregard for the risks these drugs pose to women and unborn children.” Read more at Million Voices…
THINK.
- The FDA’s latest move exposes how politics can outweigh patient safety when it comes to abortion policy.
- Chemical abortions now account for more than half of all U.S. abortions, yet medical oversight continues to weaken. Saving babies' lives goes beyond Roe v. Wade. This issue demands involvement of churches and states across the nation to engage in meaningful policy to curb the use of the abortion pill.
- This issue is about whether the government should sanction the taking of life in the name of convenience. We believe, as Christians that it should not. Government exists to punish evil and to do good (Romans 13).
PRAY.
Father God, touch the lives of the women who are struggling with the hopelessness they feel in their pregnancy. Would you comfort them and show them You care, and that there is another way. Expose the corruption in politics and influence those who are making the wrong choices, to make the right choices. I pray for a ban on this awful pill. May You receive glory from this, in Jesus’ name.
ACT.
Urge your representatives to demand congressional oversight of the FDA’s decision, call for revocation of the approval, or support state-level actions to restrict chemical abortion access.
Turning Point Branded a Hate Group by the ADL
“The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), once recognized as a watchdog against anti-Semitism and genuine hate, has expanded its mission in ways that now place mainstream conservative and faith-based organizations in its crosshairs.” Read more at Million Voices…
THINK.
- The ADL’s decision to target Turning Point USA shows how “hate” labels are increasingly weaponized against opposing viewpoints. Turning Point is just one of many organizations who are being “labeled” as hate groups, but are truly entities of truth.
- When watchdog groups redefine hate to include traditional or conservative beliefs, free speech is under threat. Israel many times viewed good as bad and bad as good. Words have definitions and we should use them appropriately.
- Be mindful of what you read and where. There are groups and organizations that intend to mislead and spread division. We cannot let that happen, and the first action is not allowing ourselves to be manipulated.
PRAY.
Jesus, give me discernment when I look at information. Help me to process the information with Your lens. Highlight to me, by putting a pause in my spirit when I see information that is not speaking truth.
ACT.
Write a letter or social media message defending Turning Point’s right to free association and expression. Encourage your church or group to affirm legal protections against politically motivated “hate group” designations.
Another Historic Shutdown, and Democrats Own the Blame
“A Million Voices report revealed that more than 100,000 federal employees have already quit during the shutdown fight. While some media frame this as a tragedy for workers, others note it reveals something deeper: a bloated federal system stretched thin and riddled with inefficiency.” Read more at Million Voices…
THINK.
- Democrats’ attempt to tie free healthcare for undocumented immigrants to the budget exposed misplaced priorities.
- Even traditionally liberal outlets admitted their party’s miscalculation, a rare acknowledgment of responsibility. It shows that sometimes the media does tell the truth, but also, that the Democrats are truly the people blocking any progress.
- The Democrats intended on filibustering the budget vote, which 60 members of the U.S. Senate are required to break a filibuster. Republicans do not have a 60 member majority to break the filibuster.
PRAY.
Lord, we pray for unity, but only unity around a righteous cause; a cause that stewards our public money with responsibility and excellence.
ACT.
Contact your senators and representatives urging them to oppose legislative tactics that hold government operations hostage to ideological demands. Promote oversight measures to prevent future shutdowns.
Netflix Boycott Surges as Users Expose Perverse Content
“The call to boycott Netflix is growing louder, not just because of one controversial show, but because of a deeper frustration with the streaming giant’s steady promotion of content that undermines family values and public morality. As CBN News reported, what began as a reaction to a so-called “demonic trans show” has now evolved into a larger cultural moment, with voices across the spectrum demanding accountability from a platform many believe has long gone too far.” Read more at Million Voices…
THINK.
- The growing boycott reveals that consumers are realizing their money fuels the values they watch. People like to see results, and results show a relatively significant decrease in Netflix’s worth.
- Netflix’s pattern of producing anti-family, anti-faith content has crossed a moral line for millions of Americans. In 2020, Netflix was called out for promoting a show called Cuties, where they sexualized little girls. This isn’t new for Netflix, but their pride is becoming their downfall.
- This movement isn’t just about canceling a subscription, it’s about reasserting cultural standards that protect the next generation. When it comes to cancel culture, this is the kind of cancel culture the Church can and should get behind. Take the money from the organization that does not promote good values.
PRAY.
Jesus, we pray for a reversal of Netflix and their decisions with vile content. But we also pray for other streaming services to do the right thing. We also pray for Christ-centered movie production companies to create good content for families to watch.
ACT.
Encourage your family and community to support entertainment platforms that align with biblical and family values. Share alternative streaming options and join in calling for accountability from companies that profit from perversion.
