WEEKLY NEWS SUMMARY - NOVEMBER 26, 2025

In this week's Intersect, read about:

House Condemns Socialism in Bipartisan Resolution

“In a bipartisan vote, the U.S. House passed a resolution formally condemning socialism, citing historical examples of economic collapse, repression, and assaults on individual liberty associated with socialist regimes. Lawmakers argued that the United States must remain vigilant in protecting freedom and constitutional government.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • The resolution reinforces that ideas about government structure matter, and history repeatedly shows that concentrated political and economic power often leads to diminished liberty, weakened families, and restricted worship. Scripture affirms that where God’s Spirit is present, freedom flourishes (2 Corinthians 3:17), reminding citizens why vigilance is necessary.
  • Lawmakers are signaling that America must understand the consequences of policies rooted in centralized authority. Socialist systems around the world have produced rationing, censorship, and limits on economic opportunity, which conflict with the Constitution’s protection of personal responsibility and self-governance.
  • While statements are good, resolutions only go so far. Stopping socialism will require more than an official condemnation of it. Education, along with legislation curbing socialist efforts, is needed to end the advancement of socialism.

PRAY.

Father God, give us wisdom when navigating this conversation and political problem. Help us to understand the appropriate ways to combat this through education and passing the right legislation. We know Your Church should provide the services and needs that the government has stepped in to handle.

ACT.

Contact your representatives and ask how they voted on the resolution and what steps they support to protect economic and religious freedom in America. Civic engagement strengthens accountability and ensures leaders hear from the people they serve.

Texas Congressman Moves to Freeze Immigration Entries

“A Texas congressman has introduced federal legislation to temporarily freeze immigration entries into the United States until stricter enforcement and security measures are implemented, sparking renewed debate over border authority, national safety, and resource management.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Immigration authority belongs to the federal government, and when enforcement becomes inconsistent or overwhelmed, communities, migrants, and border personnel all face increased risk. Scripture teaches that government exists to promote order and protect people from harm (Romans 13:1–4).
  • This is not the first time efforts have been made to temporarily stop or slow immigration. America’s culture and customs are at risk of being completely uprooted by people whose values and way of life do not reflect our nation’s history and tradition; in fact, they do not like our nation, which is concerning. This is why Congressman Chip Roy is trying to provide a solution.
  • Citizens benefit when immigration laws are clear, enforced, and applied fairly. Stewardship, both civic and biblical, means ensuring that borders operate with integrity, accountability, and transparency.

PRAY.

Lord, protect our nation from people who have bad intentions. Please keep our communities safe from anyone who means us harm.

ACT.

Reach out to your congressional leaders and ask what action they are taking to secure the border and strengthen immigration processes. Encourage them to pursue policies that balance compassion with enforcement and uphold the rule of law.

White House Reviews Plan to Scale Back Education Dept.

“The White House is reviewing a proposal to scale back the Department of Education, reigniting debate over whether federal involvement in public schooling aligns with constitutional authority and state responsibility.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Education is not one of the Constitution’s enumerated federal powers, meaning authority defaults to the states. Many argue that returning local control would better reflect the Tenth Amendment and strengthen accountability at the community level.
  • Parents and educators often feel disconnected from decisions made in Washington. Shifting authority back to states could empower families, increase transparency, and reaffirm their right to guide their children’s learning, a responsibility Scripture places on parents (Deuteronomy 6:6–7). This has been a desire of voters for a while, however, we now have the right federal leadership to make this happen, or at least get the ball rolling.
  • Any restructuring must ensure that educational quality and opportunity remain strong nationwide. Thoughtful planning, public input, and wise leadership are needed to avoid unintended disparities between regions.

PRAY.

Holy Spirit, give our national leadership the wisdom and prudence necessary to return education and Washington power back to the people where it belongs, while maintaining cohesiveness within the states.

ACT.

Share this update with other parents and ask your state officials what authority they believe belongs at the federal, state, and local levels. Attend a school board meeting and advocate for parental involvement, curriculum transparency, and academic excellence.

Maine Judge Says Mom Can’t Teach Her Daughter the Bible

“A custody battle in Maine has sparked national concern after a district court judge issued an order forbidding a mother, Emily Bickford, from taking her daughter to church or even reading the Bible with her.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Parents are entrusted with the responsibility of shaping their children’s spiritual and moral understanding. Restricting a mother from teaching Scripture raises First Amendment concerns and challenges the biblical calling to disciple future generations (Psalm 78:4).
  • This is a wildly dangerous direction that this judge is heading in. It highlights what is likely to be a growing problem in the judicial system as the political climate heats up. This is not just political, it is spiritual. When a mother can’t even teach her own child the Bible because the father doesn’t like it, we are in a bad way as a nation—the Church must resist this.
  • Christians are called to respond through wisdom, advocacy, and prayer, not fear. Engagement with lawmakers, courts, and communities helps ensure that families retain the right to live out their faith freely. This story highlights the importance of appointing good judges to the benches, ensuring just decisions are made.

PRAY.

Father God, I pray for this mother and her child, that justice is upheld and righteousness is maintained. Protect the little girl from any spiritual and mental harm that will likely try to come against her and give them mother wisdom and strength to navigate this difficult process.

ACT.

Contact your state legislators and ask what safeguards exist to protect parental rights and religious freedom. Share this story with your church community and encourage them to stay informed, pray, and speak up respectfully when liberties are threatened.
