WEEKLY NEWS SUMMARY - MAY 7, 2025

In this week's Intersect, read about:

'Demons Were Real': Former VP Candidate’s Near-Death Experience Led Her to Jesus

Nicole Shanahan, the former running-mate of HHS Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said in April that a near-death experience led her closer to Christ. Read more at Million Voices.

THINK.

  • Shanahan has no fear in sharing her faith and the good word at every opportunity she gets, but this powerful woman’s experience with Christ comes from many dark times in her past.
  • Before really leaning into politics, she “never seriously considered whether demons were real.” She wrote that her “last year in politics changed that.
  • “Learning just how far some will go to inflict atrocities on innocent Americans has shocked me awake. Other unexplainable events have also forced me to reconsider whether we are waging a war not merely with flesh and blood but with spiritual forces.”
  • In an interview with Allie Beth Stuckey, Shanahan described suffering a miscarriage at 20 weeks pregnant on the campaign trail. “[I] was pretty far along. It was really scary… I almost lost my life.”

PRAY.

Dear God, we pray for every woman who has lost a child, and every woman who has not met her children yet in this world. We know that demons walk among us but we do not fear, because You are here and You will never leave. We do not know why You are making our world so big right now, so broad and all-encompassing, but we know You know. And we trust you. Always. Amen.

ACT.

“But to know that you’re not alone, that Jesus’s blood was shed for us humans – in this world of pure discord – that we know our souls belong to Him…and that God loves us so deeply that even in our moment of pain and death, we actually can know 100% without any doubt that we are in God’s kingdom.” – This statement from Shanahan really hit home to us, so we wanted to share it with you today. If you feel it is right to do so, please share it with someone else. Are there any political leaders who you feel are walking well in God’s light? If so, email us about them today (kay@millionvoices.org)

John Graves Tells Florida's Voice How MV Engaged Millions Of Voters For Major Election

CEO of Million Voices John Graves joined Florida’s Voice hosts Brendon Leslie and Drew Steele, Friday (April 25) to explain how he and our team helped motivate non-voting Floridians to take action on a major hunting and fishing bill. Read more at Million Voices.

THINK.

  • “John Graves, CEO of Million Voices, credits a data-driven strategy for motivating non-voting Floridians to head to the polls and overwhelmingly support the passage of Amendment 2—the constitutional right to hunt and fish,” Florida’s Voice wrote after speaking with the Million Voices’ CEO.
  • To some members of the Million Voices family, this statement might come as a surprise. That’s because John is the last person to promote the intricate work Million Voices undertakes in educating millions upon millions of people on the full spectrum of the political sphere, from federal-level elections down to intricate local legislation that can have major impacts, even on the smallest communities.
  • A perfect example of our recent work includes the 1.2 million Floridians with hunting and fishing licenses identified, more than half of whom had never registered to vote or had no history of voting in elections.
  • These 1.2 million people could have been completely ignored by the political process, despite them being the core demographic whose lives would change without the passage of Amendment 2 — the constitutional right to hunt and fish.

PRAY.

Dear God, the sheer scale of all You’ve done is dwarfing us, drowning us in such huge numbers that sometimes we fail to see your forest for us, your trees. Please shine Your light on all of the things we as Christians must work to overcome in this world, so we might follow your will and leave this place as a more Biblical land than when we arrived. Thank You for giving us this opportunity. In Jesus Name, Amen.

ACT.

If you could change one thing in government, tackle one major issue, with a Biblical worldview, what would it be? Every day, our team speaks to people from all over America who want Christ and God’s Word to be intricately woven into the fabric of our society. Tell us what issue you want dealt with using Biblical values today – email kay@millionvoices.org.

Chaplains Could Soon Start Supporting Teachers In Schools

The Alabama House approved a bill in April (91-4) in favor of allowing chaplains in schools to support teachers. Read more at Poll2Action.

THINK.

  • “What we’re trying to do is offer to our teachers — teachers only, not students — the opportunity to have a resource that they can go to to get counseling to get help if they’re struggling with something and they don’t have a person they can talk to that will be confidential and non-partial,” said bill sponsor Republican Rep. Mark Gidley.
  • “So many of our teachers are under great stress in their job and other things too and we want to do all we can to give them every resource possible to help preserve them and conserve them.”
  • Did you know that the separation of church and state was never a truly legal, nor Constitutional guarantee? In fact, the one ruling (known colloquially as the “Lemon Test”) that was used by courts for less than 60 years to remove Christ and God’s word from our public spaces, was overturned in 2022?
  • This means that there are no legal barriers to bringing God to the forefront of our society. Do you have a problem with this? If so, email kay@millionvoices.org as we need to understand all perspectives.

PRAY.

Dear Heavenly Father, we Thank You for all You’re doing is calling so many into Your light. We trust and believe in Your place in our nation, as we know that this place – the place we call home – would not exist without you. Guide us as You guided our ancestors through countless trials and tribulations in the founding of America. We honor You in all we do. Thank You. Amen.

ACT.

Allowing Chaplains and other religious leaders into our education system – for free – is not illegal thanks to the overruling of the “Lemon test,” but so many people still don’t know that this is the case. Why not tell your friends and family about how your religious groups could technically get involved with helping local educational institutions today?

Minnesota Bill Aims To Fund Murder Of Unborn Children

Minnesota's House of Representatives are currently deliberating the establishment of a "health equity grant fund" to continue funding abortions after refusing to support women through pregnancy and maternity centers. Read more at Poll2Action.

THINK.

  • If passed, HF 1278 would create $30,000,000 in funding for “abortion providers, uncompensated care, and to increase” the availability and access for women to receive abortions throughout the state.
  • Centers that practice abortion are apparently undergoing a major funding crisis in Minnesota, suggesting that many of these centers aren’t receiving the same type of support from donors that they once did, according to the Hamlin Oracle.
  • Tax-payer funded abortions are apparently increasing throughout state-level legislation, with lawmakers seeming to do more to ensure children are killed before birth than making their lives more livable once they arrive, LiveAction noted.

PRAY.

Dear Heavenly Father, please protect every life on this planet today. We pray that Minnesota sees Your light and steps away from the darkness. Do not let a single American dollar fund this barbaric practice, but instead usher in a new world where women are truly supported in their pursuit of motherhood; where children are once-again celebrated. Eradicate the term “pro-choice” from our language as it becomes a redundant concept as no woman, nor man shall pressure a woman into killing their unborn child. We pray for a greater society than that for our children and grandchildren. In Your Name We Pray. Amen.

ACT.

We’re not in a major election year, but that doesn’t mean that smaller, localized elections aren’t happening around you right now. It is often these local-level, small-scale elections that have the largest day-to-day consequences on our way of life. Trying to get the mainstream news media to care about Americans on the local-level is pretty tough, so that’s where you come in. The corporate mainstream news media is barely a hundred years old, at best. News spread through communities via word-of-mouth for millennia, so why not bring that back? Be unafraid this week to think and talk to your community about what you think is best for your future. Your thoughts and conversations don’t have to lead to solutions. Just know that He is listening and can deliver on more than you’d ever dream.

My Faith Votes— is a ministry that motivates, equips, and activates Christians in America to vote in every election, transforming our communities and influencing our nation with biblical truth. An estimated 25 million Christians who are registered to vote, fail to vote in presidential elections. My Faith Votes is on a mission to change this statistic by helping Christians act on their faith and vote in every election. When we pray unceasingly for our nation, think biblically about the issues, and vote consistently in every election the impact of Christians taking action from the local to the state and federal level will be unprecedented.
