In this week's Intersect, read about:
The Link Between Politics, Faith, and Mental Wellness
"Over the past few years, we have seen a growing divide in how different political groups experience mental well-being. The active involvement of citizens is essential to understanding this crisis. When we look closely at the recent data on mental illness and political ideology, a clear picture emerges about the state of our minds." Read more at Million Voices...
THINK.
- Faith isn’t only about eternity; it’s the anchor for mental resilience here and now. It's important for us to remember that without healthy families and people, we do not have a healthy nation. Additionally, this link goes to show that one's political views do affect how one feels, which is yet another indicator that we are in a spiritual battle.
- Secular ideologies rob many young people of purpose, while biblical truths and strong families restore hope. Why teach bad ideas for the sake of teaching both sides? This is why the Founding Fathers desired religion to accompany classroom material for grade school students!
- Electing leaders who champion faith and family is key to national well-being and future generations. If we wish to see our posterity do well and live well, we must steward their future today, here & now.
PRAY.
Lord, break the power of despair over our nation’s youth. Strengthen families, raise up churches filled with compassion and truth, and renew hope in every home.
ACT.
Attend church every Sunday, and invite others! Share resources that highlight the mental and spiritual benefits of faith. Encourage young people in your circle to anchor their lives in God’s truth.
The Rise of Islamic Extremism in U.S. Communities
"Our communities are witnessing a shocking rise in extremism right in our own backyards. Reports reveal that foreign adversaries and radical clerics are using American soil to spread dangerous propaganda. While some of these sources are older reports, the guiding truths they reveal remain a critical warning today. We cannot afford to ignore the clear signs of spiritual warfare happening around us." THINK.
- This battle of ideas, which was originally thought only to exist in the Middle East, is now at our doorstep. We are confronted with a spiritual battle that has become a reality as a result of our inaction.
- Silence and passivity allow lies to root and evil to advance. Our churches, religious institutions, schools, and businesses have all become heavily influenced by Islam. We have a duty to protect our own culture, which includes our values, customs, and traditions.
- Islam is a religion that is its own government. It is a theocracy, and is therefore incompatible with the Constitution of the United States. Article VI of the Constitution explicitly states that our Constitution is the supreme law, and no other laws supersede it.
PRAY.
God, open our eyes to spiritual threats. Raise up leaders who will fiercely defend liberty, truth, and the vulnerable. Protect our children and our communities from every evil scheme.
ACT.
Equip your church with voter guides and encourage everyone to pray, vote, and stand! Hold local leaders accountable when they embrace or enable dangerous ideologies. Never be afraid to call evil what it is and demand a return to righteousness.
Democrat Lawmaker Leaves Party, Prioritizes Christian Beliefs
"Michigan State Representative Karen Whitsett is making a bold stand for her Christian faith. She recently announced she will not seek reelection to the state House, as covered in this Michigan Advance article. This powerful move is a clear faith-based decision that puts God above political gain. Believers everywhere must pay attention to her courageous choice." Read more at Million Voices...
THINK.
- True leadership means fearing God above all else, never sacrificing conviction for political opportunity. As Christians, we should never place our political party over the word of God. His law is final.
- The hostility to biblical Christianity is increasing in America’s political system. This can be resisted and corrected by people like Representative Whitsett speaking up and boldly making decisions that align with God's word.
- Influence at the state level is critical; strong Christian voices in office shape our culture and protect our freedoms. We need to encourage our civil leaders to do this; to leave political parties that do not align with the word of God.
PRAY.
Lord, strengthen Karen Whitsett and all leaders willing to put You before politics. Stir believers to seek Your will above all worldly gain and to speak truth with loving boldness.
ACT.
Pray for and encourage Christian voices in government. Refuse to compromise biblical convictions in your own sphere. Use your vote to promote righteous, courageous leaders who stand on the Word.
Ex-Gay Christian Acquitted in Major Free Speech Case
"For over three years, Grech endured intense persecution from his own government. He bravely refused to back down from his deeply held biblical convictions. Matthew Grech recently won a massive victory for religious freedom in Malta. He was facing serious criminal charges simply for sharing his powerful Christian testimony. His story is a testimony an example of a spiritual and legal triumph." Read more at Million Voices...
THINK.
- Standing firm for biblical truth can be costly, but it is necessary. Throughout scripture, God calls on His people to boldly stand for truth in the public square. Thanks to people like Grech, we are inspired to follow and lead with courage in our own communities, whatever the issue may be.
- The freedom to share the Gospel and pursue discipleship is under real threat from secular lawmakers and activists. The more we allow our political system to go unchecked, the more it will cost us to take a stand. We cannot allow ourselves to be bound by fear.
- Every believer must defend the doors of evangelism, counseling, and testimony for the next generation. This must be done in the civil, educational, and spiritual arenas of the state, school, and churches. But first, it all begins at home.
PRAY.
Father, thank You for delivering Matthew Grech from unjust persecution. Give strength to Christians under pressure, and embolden us in America to guard the door of free speech and faith!
ACT.
Support leaders and organizations defending biblical counseling and religious liberty. Speak up when legislatures attack faith. Share your testimony without fear; your story could change a life and a nation.
My Faith Votes— is a ministry that motivates, equips, and activates Christians in America to vote in every election, transforming our communities and influencing our nation with biblical truth. An estimated 25 million Christians who are registered to vote, fail to vote in presidential elections. My Faith Votes is on a mission to change this statistic by helping Christians act on their faith and vote in every election. When we pray unceasingly for our nation, think biblically about the issues, and vote consistently in every election the impact of Christians taking action from the local to the state and federal level will be unprecedented.
