WEEKLY NEWS SUMMARY - JANUARY 14, 2026

In this week's Intersect, read about:

Walz Begins To Mobilize Guard Against Federal Agents

"Governor Tim Walz has placed the National Guard on alert, signaling a deep distrust of federal agents. He stated clearly that the state has “never been at war with our federal government,” yet his actions suggest a battle is brewing. This kind of rhetoric divides us when we need unity the most. We must look at what is happening with clear eyes and a focus on truth." Read more at Million Voices...

THINK.

  • It always comes back to Romans 13, which tells us authorities are established by God to keep peace. When state leaders pit themselves against federal authority, it undermines God-ordained structures and breeds chaos.
  • A constitutional crisis at the state and federal levels risks fragmenting our country. We are called to be peacemakers, not to stoke division or confusion for political gain. Insurrections are extremely dangerous. Unlike January 6th, what Walz is threatening would come with armed conflict.
  • Leadership requires courage and humility; using military assets for political leverage endangers peace and trust. We must discern bold leadership from divisive posturing.

PRAY.

Father, I pray against any enemy assault on our nation and our states. Thwart the enemy's tactics in Jesus' name; bind the strategy of whoever is putting it together. Turn hearts and minds, and release Your glory into Minnesota.

ACT.

Pray for wisdom and humility in all government officials as they navigate this crisis. Reach out to your elected officials and insist on respect for law, order, and clear communication between authorities. Stand firm for constitutional principles and call for calm and facts over rhetoric.

Trump’s Housing Ban: Homes for Families, Not Corporations

"A decisive move has been made to protect the American Dream, as President Trump announced he is taking steps to ban large institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes. This action directly confronts a crisis that has pushed homeownership out of reach for countless American families. It is a bold declaration that homes are for people, not massive corporations." Read more at Million Voices...

THINK.

  • The Bible affirms the importance of private property (Micah 4:4); policies that empower families to own homes align with God’s original intent for blessing, inheritance, and stability.
  • Corporate takeover of housing creates modern “feudalism,” making families perpetual renters and denying them the dignity and wealth-building power of ownership. We must speak out for biblical stewardship and economic justice.
  • Addressing housing affordability is a pro-family, pro-community issue. Advocating for homeownership strengthens society’s foundations and honors God's design for community prosperity.

PRAY.

Lord, I ask for peace and prosperity over families who wish to expand into homes. I pray for an increase for them to purchase what they need to create memories and bless others with their properties.

ACT.

Support legislation and leaders committed to making homeownership attainable for families, not just corporations. Share your support for policies that prioritize households, demand transparency in local zoning and housing decisions, and encourage church communities to help families facing housing insecurity.

Houston Pastor’s Case Defends First Amendment Rights

"In Houston, Texas, Pastor Howard Camp was handcuffed, detained, and banned from a public bus terminal for sharing the Gospel, praying, and serving the needy. After legal intervention, his right to preach in public was restored in a victory for the First Amendment. His case stands as a critical reminder about the importance of protecting religious liberty in our communities." Read more at Million Voices...

THINK.

  • The right to share our faith is not granted by man; it is a God-given liberty protected under the First Amendment (Acts 5:29). When challenged, we must remember our allegiance is first to Christ.
  • Local governments sometimes become the battleground for religious liberty. This is typically overlooked, as we focus on these fights being in the Supreme Court. If we do not defend freedoms in our neighborhoods, we risk losing them everywhere.
  • Courage in the face of intimidation inspires the Church to stand together for truth. Every small victory for faith in the public square is a step in reclaiming cultural ground. Christians around the nation need to be doing this everywhere.

PRAY.

Father God, thank You for this spiritual win. I want what You want. May Your glory shine bright in the midst of these political and spiritual battles. I ask for Your grace and mercy on anyone who has the boldness to enter the public arena and glorify Your name.

ACT.

Stand with those defending religious liberty. Attend local meetings, support legal organizations fighting for Christian speech rights, and encourage those sharing Christ to do so boldly and wisely. Speak up in your city when rights are threatened—your stand strengthens the Church.

Trump Urges GOP Flexibility on Hyde Amendment

"President Donald Trump has called for Republicans to be “flexible” regarding the Hyde Amendment—a decades-old protection that prevents federal funds from being used for abortion. This has sparked concern and debate among pro-life advocates, as this safeguard is seen as a moral boundary that should not be compromised." Read more at Million Voices...

THINK.

  • The Hyde Amendment exists to protect life and the conscience rights of Americans; funding abortion with taxpayer dollars means every citizen is complicit in violating the commandment “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13).
  • No political negotiation should ever come at the expense of innocent human life. Our advocacy must be firm; these are not just political “chips,” but lives created in God’s image. These are human lives that are now protected at the state level, according to Dobbs in 2022.
  • Religious liberty and the sanctity of life are foundational to a just society. Compromise here threatens our nation’s ability to honor conscience, protect the vulnerable, and represent biblical justice.

PRAY.

Jesus, thank You. Thank You for life. Thank You for Your mercy over every child. I petition heaven now for Your intervention in the heart of President Trump, that his mind is secured in Your word, and that he proudly touts Your word and Your heart above all else on this issue, and every other issue that honors You, Father God

ACT.

Contact your legislators and urge them to stand firm on the Hyde Amendment without compromise. Educate others about why taxpayer protections matter. Join with pro-life groups, write letters, make calls, and let elected officials know you expect the defense of the unborn to remain non-negotiable.
