WEEKLY NEWS SUMMARY - DECEMBER 3, 2025

In this week's Intersect, read about:

Disturbing Video: Man Says He’ll Kill Over Quran Burning

“Chaos erupted in Dearborn, Michigan, as violent protests, extremist behavior, and assaults on journalists raised national alarms about public safety and the erosion of American civic unity. Footage shared online showed crowds blocking streets, chanting aggressively, and confronting bystanders in scenes that shocked viewers across the country. For many, the unrest is now prompting broader questions about whether some communities are moving away from the shared values that have long held the United States together.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • The First Amendment does not protect a person from making threats against another person, particularly death threats. Adding insult to injury, the rise of Islam in American cities is beginning to stir more of these situations. Americans are rightly becoming increasingly concerned.
  • While we cannot expect everyone in America to be under the influence of a certain faith or sect of Christianity, we can expect people to live peacefully, according to civil law in America. Safety, however, is clearly under attack.
  • A nation cannot endure when fear overtakes civil order. Christians are called to be peacemakers, demonstrating courage and truth even when the surrounding culture becomes hostile. We owe it to our communities and our nation to secure not only liberty, but also safety.

PRAY.

Lord, please protect all of our citizens. Place Your protection over their lives, their property, and their families. Regardless of the background of faith, we love Your creation, and we wish everyone well. Give us the discernment to identify the right strategies for our communities.

ACT.

Pray for protection over innocent people and for calm among all communities. Encourage your church leadership to speak publicly for law, order, and respect among neighbors. Contact local officials to demand that law enforcement take threats seriously and protect public safety.

Pentagon Investigation Could Court-Martial Sen. Kelly

“The political and military fallout surrounding a viral video urging U.S. troops to “refuse illegal orders” has intensified, with federal defense officials now weighing possible disciplinary action against one of the lawmakers involved. The development marks a sharp escalation from what began as a public-facing political message and has since evolved into a formal misconduct probe with potential military-law consequences.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Civilian control of the military is a constitutional pillar. Any disruption of that relationship, whether through political pressure or military retaliation, risks destabilizing how our government functions.
  • Biblically, authority must operate within its God-given boundaries (Romans 13:1–2). When those boundaries blur, confusion and conflict follow, affecting national peace and institutional trust.
  • Demanding that troops disobey the commander-in-chief of the U.S. military is a serious offense and ought to be punished accordingly if the accused is found guilty of such a crime.

PRAY.

God, instill in our nation once again the discipline of obedience and submission to authority. Show each heart how to pursue unity. Show us as a nation how to dig deeper into Your word and pursue You. We want unity, peace, and prosperity for our nation.

ACT.

Contact your congressional representatives to ask if they support such investigations and whether they believe former military service should disqualify lawmakers from military protection. Engage in public dialogue about the importance of preserving separation between civilian government, military, and free political speech. Encourage churches and Christian organizations to pray for wisdom and restraint among national leaders.

Greene Resigns, Leaving GOP Majority on the Brink

“Last weekend, Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stunned Washington by announcing she will resign from Congress on January 5, 2026, a move that immediately reshaped expectations for the House. Her sudden exit is not merely the departure of a high-profile firebrand; it tightens the GOP’s already narrow majority, exposes widening fractures within the party, and reignites scrutiny over her rapidly growing public profile and personal wealth.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Sudden congressional vacancies can shift legislative priorities and weaken the constitutional balance voters intended. Majority status determines which bills advance, stall, or never see daylight. This could diminish the Republican majority in Congress, thereby causing losses within the GOP, as well as compromise, which almost always favors Democrats.
  • Scripture warns that instability in leadership affects the welfare of a people (Proverbs 29:2). When the righteous lead well, people flourish, but disorder creates uncertainty.
  • Representative Greene should finish out her term in office, as a gesture of professionalism and excellence. But politics is an interesting thing; people do strange things when fear, power, and money are involved. It highlights the importance of electing good people who don’t bend the knee, but also people willing to finish out the fight.

PRAY.

Pray for Representative Greene that she would experience God’s grace in her life and that her district does not lose good representation and that a good man or woman steps in to replace her.

ACT.

Monitor your local congressional races and learn about the candidates who may run to fill any vacancies. Ask church members to stay engaged, voting, and civic participation matter, especially when congressional majorities hang by a thread. Encourage others to pray for godly wisdom for whoever steps into office.

Chicago Train Attack Raises Questions Over Judicial Release

“Last weekend, commuters on Chicago’s Blue Line watched an ordinary train ride turn into a nightmare. According to reporting from the Daily Wire, 26-year-old Bethany MaGee was riding the train when a man walked up to her, doused her in gasoline, and set her on fire. Witnesses say the attack was sudden, deliberate, and completely unprovoked.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Public safety is a core responsibility of government, and repeated judicial leniency toward chronic offenders undermines that constitutional duty. A justice system that fails to restrain evil endangers the innocent.
  • There are many more incidents like this happening all over the nation. The problem has been there for a while, but it’s getting worse. Judges are letting violent criminals go free, and bringing into serious question their judgment. All the while, people are being harmed and killed. Justice must be pursued, which means keeping these violent criminals behind bars.
  • Christians should think carefully about the kind of judges and lawmakers we support. Consistent accountability and moral clarity in the justice system protect communities and promote peace.

PRAY.

Jesus, please forgive us for allowing these judges to remain. Show us mercy and protect our people from these violent criminals who do not belong on our streets. May civil government do what it was designed to do: punish evil and do good, according to Your word in Romans 13.

ACT.

Reach out to your state and local lawmakers to encourage reforms that require judges to consider criminal history and public safety before granting release. Support efforts for stronger victim protections and accountability for repeat offenders. Pray for healing for the victim and her family, and for justice to prevail.
