WEEKLY NEWS SUMMARY - NOVEMBER 19, 2025

In this week's Intersect, read about:

Utah Redistricting & Judicial Authority

“A recent ruling in Utah has sparked a new debate over judicial power, raising questions about the balance between state legislative authority and court oversight in redistricting cases. The decision has intensified national conversations about constitutional roles and the separation of powers.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • The Constitution structures government so that authority is distributed, not concentrated. Redistricting is explicitly delegated to state legislatures, and when courts step in too aggressively, it raises concerns about one branch overriding another. Scripture also affirms that governing authority is assigned, not seized, and civil order depends on respecting those boundaries (Romans 13:1–2).
  • Courts must interpret law faithfully, not create or reshape it. While judicial review protects citizens against unconstitutional acts, it becomes problematic if courts replace the elected legislature’s role with their own preferences. The Bible warns against judges who “show partiality” or “pervert justice,” reminding us that fairness requires staying within one’s proper role (Deuteronomy 16:18–20).
  • Government was established to do good, and not evil. This is one chief reason that redistricting ought to be done, so that good people can represent their communities and provide the best outcome for the common good.

PRAY.

God, would You protect the wisdom of our nation’s justices; Help them make the right decisions for our nation and on behalf of our states. Give the voters the awareness to select the proper candidates for their offices who will uphold Your law.

ACT.

Urge your state legislators to review redistricting procedures and support reforms that clarify the boundaries of judicial involvement. When the branches operate within their constitutional lanes, citizens experience greater transparency and stability.

Biology on Trial: Women’s Sports at SCOTUS

“The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a landmark case involving Title IX and women’s sports, determining whether biological distinctions can be legally recognized in athletic competition. The outcome could significantly reshape federal civil rights law and school athletics nationwide.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Title IX was written to preserve equal opportunity for biological women. The Constitution protects fairness under the law, and Title IX’s purpose is undermined when biological males compete in women’s divisions. Scripture supports this by recognizing meaningful distinctions in male and female design (Genesis 1:27), distinctions that matter in real-world contexts like physical competition.
  • Biblical teaching affirms that human identity is rooted in God’s intentional creation, not subjective redefinition. Just as civil law relies on objective criteria to ensure fairness, biblical truth provides a foundation for clarity and order. Blurring biological categories creates confusion both for athletes and for the systems meant to protect them.
  • Viewing this issue only as an issue over the women’s bathrooms can cause us to lose ground by not making about transgender confusion across all cultural elements. If we only make it about sports, then we grant that other areas where this confusion enters will be acceptable.

PRAY.

Lord, may the nation’s highest Court make the correct decision that reflects not only our Constitution, but Your heart and word on this issue. Protect the women in our nation and thwart the actions of those who wish to see women and girls harmed in America.

ACT.

Share verified information with school leaders, athletic boards, and local representatives about how Title IX is being challenged. Encourage them to adopt policies that protect fairness and preserve opportunities for female athletes.

How States Quietly Gave Illegal Immigrants the Wheel

“Across the U.S., several states have quietly expanded policies allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses, raising concerns about public safety, accountability, and the rule of law. The issue has resurfaced following tragic incidents tied to poorly vetted drivers.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • Immigration authority belongs to the federal government, not individual states; though states do have some authority regarding their border safety. When states extend privileges to those living unlawfully in the country, they create inconsistent enforcement that weakens the role the Constitution assigns to Congress. Scripture affirms lawful order by teaching that nations and boundaries exist under God’s authority (Acts 17:26).
  • Governments have a biblical and constitutional duty to administer justice consistently. When public safety laws, like those governing driver licensing, are unevenly enforced, innocent people bear the consequences. Proverbs 28:5 says that “evil men do not understand justice,” highlighting the moral responsibility leaders have to enforce laws with clarity and accountability.
  • Licensing unauthorized immigrants undermines safety and responsibility. Driving is a serious privilege that affects every person on the road, and states must ensure that those behind the wheel are fully accountable to U.S. law. Scripture teaches that stewardship requires guarding the vulnerable, and part of that stewardship is ensuring safe roads and responsible enforcement.

PRAY.

Father God, protect those on the roads each and every day. Keep drivers safe, while in the meantime, state and federal officials work to correct this travesty we have allowed to happen.

ACT.

Contact your state’s public safety officials and transportation committees to request a review of licensing policies. Encourage them to prioritize accountability and ensure that state laws reinforce, not undermine, federal immigration authority.

Supreme Court to Review Trump-Era Asylum Restrictions

“The Supreme Court has agreed to review whether the federal government acted lawfully when it limited asylum processing at ports of entry under the former “metering” policy, a practice that restricted how many migrants could request protection each day. The ruling could reshape future border management.” Read more at Million Voices…

THINK.

  • The Constitution gives Congress, not federal agencies, the authority to set immigration rules. When executive agencies limit asylum access through policy workarounds, it raises separation-of-powers concerns.
  • Biblical ethics teach both compassion toward the foreigner and commitment to just order. Scripture repeatedly commands care for the sojourner (Exodus 22:21), yet it also affirms the necessity of gates, boundaries, and justice for the entire community. This case highlights the need to balance mercy with lawful process.
  • Asylum systems must be both humane and sustainable. When borders become overwhelmed, vulnerable migrants suffer alongside citizens. Stewardship, one of Scripture’s core principles, requires governments to create policies that protect the innocent, prevent exploitation, and ensure fair, orderly processing.

PRAY.

Father God, protect our borders. Put in place those who have our nation’s best interests in mind. May God-fearing men and women not only be in power with the right heart, but also working our borders for our protection.

ACT.

Reach out to your federal representatives and encourage them to support clear, enforceable asylum laws that uphold both compassion and the rule of law. Policy clarity protects migrants, strengthens border security, and honors constitutional authority.
