WEEKLY NEWS SUMMARY - AUGUST 20, 2025

In this week's Intersect, read about:

The Real Battle Behind Redistricting: America’s Moral Crossroads

For the past two weeks, Texas has been in the spotlight over efforts to redraw congressional maps. Not long after, California entered the fight, with states like New York threatening to join them. At its core, this battle is not simply about technical rules, it is about the direction of America. The question is clear: do we want a nation rooted in righteousness, or one that embraces immorality?” Read more at Million Voices.

THINK.

  • Texas rightfully is trying to redraw congressional maps to more accurately reflect the new population post-COVID. Democrats have pushed back, attempting to do the same in their states, where gerrymandering has already been done for years.
  • Gerrymandering is constitutionally allowed for political purposes. Gerrymandering has been happening since the early 19th century, when Elbridge Gerry, signer of the Constitution and governor of Massachusetts drew lines that served his political purpose of filling a state legislative seat.
  • The question before the church is not whether it's right or wrong; it is constitutionally right. We are in a fight over our nation’s way of life and our culture. Re-drawing maps allows conservatives to gain more seats according to new population numbers, and in turn, gives us more political power to pass good laws that are pro-family and pro-America.

PRAY.

Jesus, I ask that you watch over the people making these important decisions. Give them guidance and remove any obstructions in their way. Be with President Trump as he moves forward with the America-first agenda, and be with our state lawmakers as they battle through the political drama that is constantly weighing on them. Give them peace and rest, in Jesus’ name.

ACT.

Texas has taken the lead, other states are beginning to follow. If your state is one that is discussing re-drawing maps, reach out to your elected officials and encourage them to support the new maps.

Are Storms Really Getting Worse? The Truth About Weather and Climate Change

“2025 has already been more active than past years when it comes to severe storms and heavy rain. Now, with hurricanes beginning to form in the Atlantic, conversations about climate change are surfacing once again across social media. But are storms actually increasing? And if they are, is climate change the cause?” Read more at Million Voices.

THINK.

  • The church has a responsibility to steward the planet with care. But that does not mean spending money we do not have to fight a threat that is unproven.
  • Tornadoes and hurricanes are not getting worse. If COVID has taught us anything, it is that the experts are not always right, and they also have agendas. The theory of climate change is not different.
  • The theory of climate change is rooted in paganism and has become its own worldview at this point. We do not have to believe in an unproven theory, and false reports of increasing bad weather across the planet to be good stewards of Earth. Genesis chapter 1 gives us great guidance as to how to take care of our environment.

PRAY.

Father God, while I do not believe in false theories, help me to be a good steward of my community and the world around me. Help me to be mindful of how I treat Your creation, Lord. I want to be an excellent steward of the beauty and wonder of Your design.

ACT.

Consider faith-based nonprofits that have a biblical view of the environment and take practical steps to treat our communities. Also consider donating your money to groups and organizations that teach the biblical steps of stewardship of God’s creation and bring accurate information regarding weather and climate.

From Seminary to Surrender- The Fall of America’s Universities

“In the age of confidence failing in America’s universities and colleges, it makes one ask why people still support the very institutions that have been teaching values and ideologies that are in opposition to the Christian principles America was founded upon. From LGBTQ to climate change, the anti-Christian activists are alive and thriving on college campuses, but that could be changing.” Read more at Million Voices.

THINK.

  • America’s Ivy league schools used to be seminary schools, where they had the main responsibility of teaching biblical values and principles to students, preparing those students to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
  • These schools have been given over to people whose worldview is anti-God, dismantling the schools’ historical purpose. We have fewer schools now that teach first principles, we must be watchful that the schools we have today are not given over in the future.
  • Public funding to the seminary schools like Harvard was never a violation of separation of church and state. America’s Founding Fathers understood the importance of instructing students in true principles and virtue, so that they would become upstanding citizens.

PRAY.

Father God, I thank you for your grace on us as a nation. Give us the strategy and courage to take back education and replace what exists with what pleases You. Help us to gain access again to the minds of the youth that are being corrupted every day. Break my heart for what breaks Yours and restore education in America.

ACT.

Donate your money to colleges and universities that teach good things; biblical things. If you have a child or grandchild in a university or college, and you have the capacity to do it, transfer them to a new college or university that will not corrupt their morals. Instead, send them to good schools that have a good reputation. If your child is going to a bad college and you see no way out, encourage your student to take a stand for righteousness in the classroom.

Former Children’s Hospital Doctor Faces Federal Child Pornography Charges

“In a disturbing discovery, the U.S. Attorney General’s office found that a former children’s hospital doctor has been hit with a federal charge for transporting and possessing child pornography.” Read more at Million Voices.

THINK.

  • Far too many people who have access to children are being caught with extremely disturbing content on their electronic devices. We must be vigilant in ensuring that children are surrounded by adults whose character demonstrates virtue.
  • More punitive laws must be written into statute to ensure that punishment is swift and direct for these perpetrators. Children are our most vulnerable and deserve the highest degree of protection.
  • To curb this issue, states should be passing laws that ban pornography, requiring age-verification laws, which are effective and do not violate one’s constitutional right.

PRAY.

God, I ask for Your mercy on each and every child that is under the influence and oversight of anyone with evil intentions. Holy Spirit, I ask that You intercede on behalf of the children and expose darkness to those who have the ability and authority to take action. Keep Your children safe, in Jesus’ name.

ACT.

Ask your state legislator to pass age-verification laws that will help to curb the pornography addiction that has swept America. Make sure your state representative knows that it is constitutional and that it is for the common good of society.
